BELGRADE – EU Enlargement process will not be complete until all western Balkans countries access the organisation, former Italian foreign minister Franco Frattini said on Saturday during the panel entitled ‘The Balkans 2020’ on the last day of the Belgrade Security Forum.
Frattini said that the EU enlargement process for the western Balkans began by Croatia’s EU accession and it will be completed when all countries in the region join the EU.
The Italian official pointed to the importance of a united Europe for the population because of the open market, borders and free flow of people and goods.
During the three-day forum which ends on Saturday, government representatives, foreign officials, NGO representatives and independent experts discussed issues connected to regional international security, foreign policy and economy.
