Belgrade, 23th July, 2018 – Franco Frattini, President of the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI) said on Monday, that Belgrade showed it deserved to join the European Union as its full member, a statement from Serbia’s Ministry for European Integrations said.
In the meeting with Serbia’s Minister for European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic, Frattini added that the EU “has noticed the commitment by (Serbia’s) government to be an active and reliable EU partner,” which, in his opinion, was visible in the opening of negotiating chapters.
Frattini, who in 2013 was an advisor for the European integration to the then Serbia’s Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, also said that the reforms in Serbia “are giving results,” the statement carried by the FoNet news agency reported.
Joksimovic and Frattini discussed the continuation of Serbia’s accession talks with the EU and all the reforms Belgrade had to implement on its road to the bloc. The statement added that the two also talked about the situation in the region and agreed that Serbia’s role in the regional stability was necessary for the EU stability as well.
