President Frattini and Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov attend a panel discussion titled ‘Society and global politics’
President Frattini stressed on the importance of “not loosing our common identity in the today global chaos . Fundamental rights and human dignity are at a stake. The right integration is living together respecting laws, individual rights and all religions. We should continue all together a tireless fight against radicalism. Considering the today major threats your generation could run the risk of facing the war instead of living in peace and prosperity. We cannot allow this. Global players, in particular, Russia and USA have to cooperate on the most critical issues like the fight against terrorism, please say no to unilateral decisions, our colleagues in Washington might understand that what is decided in Washington does not stay in Washington but it influences everyone in the world”
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov enhanced in his remarks the importance of the festival which has convened thousands of young people from all over the world. “It is a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other better and to agree on maintaining contact in the interests of trust and mutual understanding among nations. Russia was chosen as the location for the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students. Young representatives from different countries will meet in Sochi, where from 14 to 22 October 2017 this great youth event will be held. The World Festival of Youth and Students has been held since 1947. Twice – in 1957 and 1985 the event took place in Moscow. The festival in 1957 was the largest in the history of the festival, when in Moscow 34 thousand attended from 131 countries. The purpose of the festival is to bring together the youth of the world community around the idea of justice, the strengthening of international relations, and the development of inter-ethnic and intercultural relations.This year, the main events will take part in Sochi’s Olympic Park and will bring together around 30,000 young people from more than 180 countries – the best representatives of the student community who achieved success in science, art, sports and politics.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has given an official start to the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Russia’s Black Sea resort city of Sochi.
He wished young people to be consistent and bold in their efforts towards their goals. “I am certain that young people of all countries, nationalities and faiths are united by common feelings and values, by their yearning for freedom, and their hope to achieve happiness, peace and accord on our planet. By a desire to create and achieve greater things. And we will make every effort to ensure you achieve success. The energy and talent of young adults possess astonishing power. Younger generations always bring innovative ideas to the world. You strive to try new things, engage in debate and display your ability to disagree with the status quo and how things are done. Be bold. Create your own future. Strive to change the world and make it a better place. It is all in your hands. Just be sure to never look back.
