Former Italian Foreign Minister, Franco Frattini is declared “Honorary Citizen” of Tirana

Tirana – Former Italian Foreign Minister, Franco Frattini, was honored by Tirana’s municipality with the title “Honorary Citizen”. In the decoration ceremony held in “Brigade Palace” were present PM Berisha, politicians, representatives of the charge d’affair, etc.

In his speech, mayor Basha appreciated Frattini’s role labeling his as a special friend of Albanians. “Today is a very special day for our city. The personality we are about to honor, today gets the keys of the city, because he has the keys of the Albanians hearts”.

Later, PM Berisha held a speech saying that Frattini has always helped Albania in the European integration.

“Since the first time I met him, I felt as if I met a very honorable friend, a personality that had friendly feelings towards Albanians, in met with a senior official of Brussels who would be our main advocate in the Council of Europe,” said the head of the cabinet.

Frattini expressing his gratitude for the sincere and brotherly friendship of Albanians said he was honored that he received Tirana’s keys.

“I appreciate the attempts of the cabinet regarding recommendations’ fulfillment. I think that the crucial point is the electoral reform and I hope it will be resolved soon. I know of Berisha’s attempts to remove immunity. It will be an indicative sign for UE,” said Frattini at the end of his speech.
